We Almost Made it 24 Hours....

From 10am Wednesday-10am today, I was on Med pager. This means that if a student needed to go to the ER or the clinic, I would have to drive them with the other RC who was on health duty. We made it all through Wednesday with no trips to the ER or the clinic, but this morning Terrance woke me up at 9AM to inform me that I needed to take a student to the clinic for a stubbed toe. I was really confused when I woke up, but upon seeing the student's toe, I realized that she actually needed to go to the clinic since her toe nail was falling off. (It was nasty.)
Steven, the RC on health duty, jokingly said it was his fault because he decided to jump in the shower before we received the call to take the student to the clinic. If only he had waited until 10AM....
After driving to and from the clinic, I came back to my room and watch It's Always Sunny. I also worked on organizing the Amazing Race event as much as I could before my lunch meeting at 12 with my committee.

Lunch
We met in Snelling and discussed the Amazing Race at length while we ate lunch. (I had a grilled chicken sandwich with onions and green peppers, which was pretty darn good.) We planned everything out from start to finish and I delegated many of the remaining tasks. Now I am much less stressed out about it. (All that is left is a supply run and making a map of the locations for the stations.)
After lunch, I emailed all of the appropriate people about the event and wrote out descriptions for each station. It wasn't difficult work, but it took a while to do.
At 3:45, I called my little brother, Jordan, to wish him a happy birthday. (I also called him at 12:07AM, but apparently he never got my message...)
The students returned from class at 4 and I began to prep for my iphoneography program. I downloaded a bunch of photo editing apps and also began making a PowerPoint. I was super prepared and excited for my program.

Dinner
Dessert
We headed to dinner at 4:45, but tonight I had my RC buddy's group so there were 25 of us instead of 13. We all sat at one huge table and bonded over the World Cup match, which we were able to watch at dinner. (I made a grilled cheese with bacon and had a chocolate chip cookie bar with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Scrumptious if I do say so myself. =P)

After dinner, I continued to work on my PowerPoint and looked for examples of different images taken and edited solely on iPhones. Around 6:30, I heard a knock on my door. One of my girls was hysterically crying about a bullying incident. I calmed her down and alerted the appropriate staff members. I felt so bad for her, but I think we have it all figured out.

Before the storm
At 7, I started my program. I 'lectured' the students about style and technical things for taking pictures and then we took a photo walk outside so they could try out what they learned. Unfortunately, the walk was cut very short since it began to rain and I was unable to stay outside. (I was wearing a white shirt and it would have gotten awkward really quickly....)
Improvising inside

We headed inside and the students photographed each other and edited the images. It seemed like they had a good time, but it would have gone over much better if the rain didn't happen.

After the program, I did rounds while the students had free time. I checked my mailbox and found 2 of the cutest invitations to 2 of my girls' classes for presentations. Both had cats drawn on them. My girls know me so well! =) Also, I acquired a friendship bracelet from Steven, since that was the program he ran tonight.
Super awesome invitations!
Top bracelet is from Steven

At 9:50, I had my RC group meeting with my girls and my RC buddy's girls. We talked about the dance, the Amazing Race, TIPstar extravaganza and did highs and lows. We even timed the highs and lows so they wouldn't take forever. (A trick I learned from my old boss, Melissa, at AU.)
At 10:45, I put my girls and Desiree's girls to bed.
Tomorrow is a day full of meetings. I have an admin meeting at 11, lunch with Sarah, Tim, and Diamond at 12, an RC meeting at 1, and transport duty immediately after. I still need to go shopping for my Hipster outfit for the Hipster TIPster dance. Hopefully I can do that before my first meeting...
I might be too exhausted from the dance to blog tomorrow, but we shall see.
Until next time,
A
