The Weepiest Prom I've Ever Been to....

Last night was TIP Prom, which means the end of the term is here. The students asked each other to prom in adorable ways, just like people do in high school. Some students used pizza, others used cute posters, but the bottom line is that every prom-posal was unique. The staff members even got involved, myself included. I asked one of the TAs by enlisting the help of my girls. I wrote "Jake from State Farm, will you go to prom with Allee?" on twelve pieces of paper and had my girls line up with it in O-House, surrounding his table. They kept the signs face down until everyone was lined up. He was so surprised and accepted the prom-posal. The kids loved it.

After dinner, the kids had evening study, but most of the TAs allowed the students to get ready for prom during that time. At 7:30, we headed to Tate Ballroom. I was on med-pager so I drove down with three students (two of which were injured, one who helped push the student in the wheelchair).
The prom was a lot of fun. The kids had a blast and some even did their TIPsync performances.

At the end of prom, when the traditional songs came on (Breakfast at Tiffany's, Save Tonight, Time of Your Life, and American Pie) everyone lost it. The staff was pretty good, for the most part, but after American Pie finished, everyone was tearing up.

After the dance, everyone was a mess. We had our second to last RC group meeting before everyone went to bed. I'm curious to see how emotional everyone gets tonight....
Today has been pretty chill. It was the last day of classes so I visited my girls who were presenting in Vet Med. Their presentations were incredible and I was very impressed with how much they had learned over the past three weeks. I am so proud of my girls.

From 3-5, everyone was cleaning their rooms and packing everything up since they will be up ALL NIGHT. After they finished packing up, I gave them their termbooks. They were super excited to see all of the pictures and they have even asked me to sign their books. It's really hard to sign their books and to say goodbye. I'm not ready for them to leave...
After dinner, we headed back to Myers and hung out until about 6:45 when we headed down to Tate for the Talent Show.

These kids are all really talented. From comedy, to dancing, to singing, these kids are truly amazing.
I cannot believe that they leave tomorrow....
After the Talent Show is over, the kids have free time until 1:30, when we will have our last RC group meeting. After that, we will be going to iHOP from 2-4. Then, we have a half hour dance party on the roof of the parking deck and then I will have to say goodbye to my kids. I'm seriously not ready for this to happen....
I will probably be exhausted for the next two days so I am not sure when I will post again, but hopefully it will be soon!
Until next time,
A
