My first shift was to sit on the 3rd floor and greet students as they moved in. Luckily, most students were moving in on the opposite side of my hallway so I was able to start re-reading "The Great Gatsby", which made my morning much more bearable.
After my first shift, I was sent to sit in the piano room to sort and label the medications for the arriving students. It was fun because I was able to hang out with Sarah and the counselor, Jess. It was a nice hour and a half.
My next shift was spent outside, directing traffic. It wasn't half bad because I stayed in the shade, but it was still quite warm.
Once I was relieved from standing outside, I stood inside by a door, directing parents where to go. My job was actually to supervise the kids if they wanted to go outside, but it was too hot and no one wanted to do anything without A/C.

All of the RCs sat together and laughed a lot, mainly because we were super delusional. (Also because we saw someone in O-House that looked like the kid in the movie "We're the Millers".) Oh! And I had the BEST grilled cheese and au gratin potatoes EVER.
After lunch, I wasn't scheduled to do anything except take any issues that arose while Sarah, Jess, Ginny, and Rachel were running the parents meeting.
Of course, everything decided to go wrong. (Luckily, the issues were minor and easily solved, but there were so many little issues, which added up.)
I handled everything professionally and one of the RCs, Olivia, said I should win an award (or a button for my lanyard) for being the most helpful person of the day. I'd like to think that everyone was super helpful, but Olivia only witnessed my helpfulness so she was a bit biased.
When the rest of the admin staff returned, I helped give out welcome letters to parents. It was nice because I was able to meet a few of my girls and their parents.
At 4:40, I met with my girls for the first time and got ready to walk over to O-House for dinner. One of my girls was MIA and we had to wait for the okay from Sarah to eat dinner. Finally, we realized the girl was still at the airport with a few other TIPsters and staff members so we went to dinner without her, sadly.
When the Residential Staff introduced themselves, each RC group cheered for their RC. My girls SCREAMED and were so excited to have me as their RC. I was so excited.
When we were walking back to Myers after the meeting, the girls said that I am the edgiest RC they have had at TIP and they think I am the coolest. I was am happy that they like me.
Our hall meeting was super fun. We toured Myers hall and then got to know each other. Everyone in my RC group is SUPER friendly and seems awesome. My girls seem like they really want to make the most of their time here so it will be a great term.
After the meeting, the girls had on hall free time. I sat in the hallway and started blogging while waiting for LIGHTS OUT time at 10:45.

At 10:45, I had to knock on all of my babies' doors and tell them to shut their lights off and go to bed. I felt like a momma tucking in her babies.
Now, we are waiting for night duty, which starts at 11. All of us are on tonight, but after the first round, Tim and I are sending the staff to sleep, which no one knows.
It just sucks because Tim and I will be up till 2AM....
I'm just glad I'm off tomorrow so I'll be able to sleep after breakfast.
Tomorrow, I am up at 7:30 for breakfast and then my day off begins at 10AM and ends on Tuesday at 10AM. Here's to sleeping ALLLL day! =)
Until next time,
A
