Dinosaurs in Space

Cheetah print sign =)
Pin Sarah made for me =)
Today we started at 8:30 with breakfast. I was super unadventurous and had Lucky Charms. (They were delicious though!)
The majority of our day was spent organizing students into groups and working on hall decorations.
I decided to go with the theme of Dinosaurs in Space, which is something I used previously in my residence hall my junior year. I love dinosaurs and space is pretty darn cool so I decided to combine the two.
In the midst of coloring and cutting out dinosaurs, Diamond, Tim, and I worked on signs for bathrooms and for the out of bounds areas. We colored the signs in and hung them up throughout Myers Hall.
I made a sign for the Staff Lounge and made it cheetah print. It's pretty adorable if I do say so myself.
We broke for lunch around 12:30. I decided to try a turkey burger. It was pretty damn good. I also had a slice of brownie pecan pie, which was heaven on a plate. I made friends with the guy who scoops the ice cream today as well. He had nice sleeves so I complimented him on them.
Brownie pie
Quesadilla, pico de gallo, and salad
After lunch, we went back to working on signs and door decs. This is when we really got into splitting the students into RC groups. It took a lot of time, but we finally figured it out. I will have 12 residents, all of which are going into 11th grade. Here's to hoping they respect me and aren't too moody.
We had dinner around 6. I had another quesadilla and a salad. I swear I'm going to need to walk a lot on this campus to work off all of this food. Good thing the kids love ultimate frisbee... That will be my form of exercise haha.
After dinner, Diamond, Mayowa (our new office assistant), and I went to Target. I picked up some hair dye (hopefully it will come out the way I want it to!).
I've been feeling a bit homesick lately, and I've only been here since Thursday. I really hope that I kick this by the time the students show up on Sunday.
Tomorrow, the RCs and the academic staff arrive to campus. I am really excited for this. We have orientation starting on Wednesday and will continue through till Saturday. (Hopefully it won't be too brutal!)
We get to have breakfast on our own tomorrow so I get to sleep in an extra half hour. (Woo!)
I'm not sure what else is on the agenda, but I sure hope it is more exciting than today was.
Sorry for the super boring post.
Until next time,
A
